Student Bar Association
The Student Bar Association (SBA), to which all Southwestern students automatically belong, has been recognized several times as "the most outstanding student bar association" in the region and nation by the American Bar Association/Law Student Division. The Association has also been named "SBA of the Year for the Western Region" by the National Student Bar Association.
The primary functions of the SBA are to promote student interests, to provide extracurricular activities for the student body through its own activities and activities of the various Student Organizations, and to encourage community service. The SBA Board of Directors is composed of elected executive officers, including the American Bar Association/Law Student Division representative, and class representatives; as well as appointed directors for six different committees.
Message from the Executive Board
Dear Southwestern Students,
The Student Bar Association (SBA) Executive Board is pleased to provide you with this calendar of events for the upcoming 2009-2010 academic school year. As you will see, the SBA will be hosting a variety of events aimed at promoting your academic, social, and career interests. We look forward to hosting many traditional SBA events, such as Barrister's Ball and Bison Week. Further, we are excited and proud to sponsor several new events this year, such as Casino Night with the Public Interest Law Committee in October and the Public Service Honors Program recently approved by the administration.
Also, we encourage all Southwestern Students to consider becoming involved with the SBA. Each student is automatically a member of the SBA and there are numerous ways to get involved, from joining a committee to attending general student body meetings and voicing your opinion.
We have worked diligently to tailor our activities specifically to the student body's wishes and we have high expectations for these events and the whole school year. We hope you add these events to your calendar and look forward to your attendance.
The SBA Executive Board and Board of Directors are honored to represent the Southwestern Student Body this year. We look forward to meeting and working with our fellow students.
